這個故事發生在唐朝，自從武則天當上皇帝以後，一連好幾個月，天上連一滴雨也不下，人們臉上的笑容也就此消失了。 就在這時，忽然來了一片灰色烏雲，頓時響起了響亮的雷聲，並下起了傾盆大雨，過了不久，只見大地又獲得了水分，笑容也回到人們的臉上。
有一天，一位老樵夫要上山，他拎著鋤頭往深山走，看見了各種從洞穴中醒來的昆蟲蛇獸，他知道驚蟄來了，所以十分高興！
接著，他走過了三座山、八座橋、七個山洞、兩個斷崖，竟然看見一條被壓在山下的龍。 龍告訴老樵夫牠是掌管天河的玉龍，因為地面上的皇帝是個女人，所以玉皇大帝很不是滋味，決定要罰全國百姓。其實，玉龍曾經同情過人類，偷偷降雨，所以變成西遊記中的白馬，幫助三藏到西天取經。沒想到現在卻又犯了相同的錯。除非金豆開花時，牠才能重返天宮。
到了農曆二月初二，老樵夫和幾位村民爆了玉米花帶到玉龍身邊，突然，龍背上的山消失了，龍抬起頭，衝上天際，消失了。 所以每年農曆二月初二，人們便會爆玉米花來紀念玉龍，這就是春龍節的由來。

The dragon told the old woodcutter that it was governing Milky Way's Yu-dragon, because in the earth’s emperor was a woman, so the Jade emperor was uncomfortable very much, decided that punished the national common people. Actually, Yu-dragon had sympathized with the humanity, rained secretly, therefore turned in to Monkey's white horse, helps the tripitaka to went pilgrimage to the Western Paradise. Unexpectedly now violated the same mistake. Only if the gold pea to blossomed, it can returned to the heavenly palace.To the lunar calendar in February second day, the old woodcutter and several villagers had exploded the popcorn,carried to Yu-dragon side, suddenly, the dragon’s back’s mountain had vanished, the dragon raised the head, rushed to the shy,and vanished. Therefore every year the lunar calendar in February second day, people made the popcorn to commemorated Yu-dragon. This is the Spring dragon festival’s origin.
